2025 Year in Review: Why Proactive IT Managers are Moving to RustDesk
A look back at the trends that made self-hosting the dominant choice for MSPs and internal IT teams this year.
2025 Year in Review: Why Proactive IT Managers are Moving to RustDesk
As we close out 2025, the dust has settled on the “Remote Work Revolution,” and the winner is clear: Infrastructure Autonomy.
Theme 1: The SaaS “Great Unbundling”
Companies spent 10 years moving everything to the cloud. In 2025, they started moving critical infrastructure back to self-hosted environments. The main drivers were predictability of costs and the need for deeper technical control.
Theme 2: The RustDesk Explosion
RustDesk grew from a popular alternative to the de facto standard for self-hosted remote access. Its performance, security-first mindset, and the maturation of its Pro features made it undeniable for corporate use.
Theme 3: The Rise of Infrastructure Automation
The barrier to entry for self-hosting has collapsed. In previous years, you needed a Linux specialist to run a relay server. By late 2025, platforms like DeployRD have turned “complex orchestration” into a commodity service.
Looking Ahead to 2026
We expect 2026 to be about Integration. We’ll see remote access tools becoming more deeply integrated with AI assistants, ticketing systems, and advanced identity management.
Thank you for being part of the DeployRD community this year. We are excited to keep building the “automated bridge” for your IT infrastructure in 2026.
